Club Handbook

Lacrosse – Canada’s national summer sport is one of great tradition. While promoting skill and finesse, it also develops the concept of teamwork and is a great way to stay fit.

In order for the sport of Lacrosse to keep developing at all levels across Canada, the establishment of a solid foundation at the grassroots level is required – this focuses on the Lacrosse Club. A local Lacrosse club is responsible for all of the Lacrosse activities in their geographic area – a town, city or district.

This undertaking may seem overwhelming at first but the purpose of this manual is to provide you with an overview of how to start a new Lacrosse club or local organization. It is designed to provide basic information on such topics as organizational structure, club administration, financial systems, insurance, volunteer recruitment, player registration, equipment and facilities, house leagues, marketing (including promotion and fundraising), and information on coaching and officiating. It will also provide you with a list of valuable resources and contacts which will assist you in setting up your new organization.
